Looks like it simply bolts into the same holes as the roof rails. I would think you could do the same with a FrontRunner rack and would be a lot cheaper.

Only hiccup could be opening the sunroof, but it may not be an issue.

1979Rover the only issue is when I check it says it needs the factory roof rails to do it is there any other model?

The link says .....For vehicles not already fitted with roof rails.

The versatile roof rack has a lightweight and fully integrated design which enhances the exterior and provides a large volume carrying capacity. Kit includes versatile roof rack, front and rear ditch finishers and fixing sealing kit. When fitted maximum load capacity 60kg. For vehicles not already fitted with roof rails.

Mine already has rails. I'm still searching for what I want to use.

Not another model, but it'd be worth a call to Front Runner.

The bolts you remove to fit the Front Runner to the roof rails are the same ones that hold the roof rail to the roof. Obviously, you wouldn't need the ones supplied by FrontRunner as they'd be too long if you didn't have the rails.

It sucks not having rails at all but I got a great deal that's why I bought it. I want to get some rack without paying 400 CAD to get the rails and crossbars but this seems like more money.

Yeah, that does suck. You could get the rails minus the crossbars if you go with a full rack.

I'd actually prefer the FrontRunner without the rails (if possible) as it currently sits up really high off the roof. I think it would be better aesthetically closer to the roof.

CAD$400? for one right. I think you're not counting the trim pieces. I am in the same boat. And look lovingly at 20 years worth of Thule stuff on the garage floor gathering dust....

I didn't get roof rails on my 23' order, is that a mistake? I assumed this would be an easy add-on.

Quite frankly I won't be off-roading with it, and can't see myself strapping anything to the roof. But you never know.
