Question Side mouldings, anyone?

I've hunted around the forum and not found much mention of these. Wondering if if anyone has them or has installed them and have thoughts/pics? The way our garage is, I'm worried about dinging these giant doors lol.

I’ve previously glued old carpet off cuts to the wall to protect vehicle doors vs sticking something to the vehicle.

I have used Highland 9242300 Black Vehicle Door Protector (about $10 from Amazon). Had them up for 8 years and love them. Thick and sturdy rubber

That looks like a great option, thanks!

I'm gathering folks don't love the look of the side moulding lol

Highland 9242300 Black Vehicle Door Protector is a good garage option. Post a pic of your rig.

Well, the problem with side mountings is they are there to protect your vehicle from someone opening their door into it. Unless the side mounding is at the exact height of the part of the other vehicles door that will make first contact with yours they don’t really work as that will vary depending on whether it’s the other vehicles front or rear door abs whether it’s a low slung sports car or a lifted pickup truck...

To avoid such damage as much as possible I park away from everyone else which usually means in an inconvenient spot far from say the entrance to a mall or store, and ideally on an end row so no-one parks on at least one side of me. I typically choose to protect the passenger side of my vehicle if given the choice as that means whoever parks next to me on the driver side would only open a door into me if they have a passenger themselves as that would be the side of their vehicle closest to me and as at least some of the time it’ll just be a driver in their car. The negative of this theory is that when there is a passenger it may be a careless kid or some other passenger who unlike the driver may not care about damage to their car vs mine (unlike the driver/owner of the other vehicle). Plus drivers with small kids often put the kiddie seat on the passenger side so they can see/reach the kid in the back and they will open their doors as wide as they can to get their kid in and out and won’t be concentrating on not hitting your car. Sigh...

In terms of opening my doors into others, I never do something I don’t fit those ugly clip on door edge protectors, but yes the D5 doors, especially the rear, are huge and I figure I might accidentally come into contact with my own garage wall one day when cleaning the vehicle or taking something out hence the carpet on the wall.
