Default Splash guard vs. mud flap?

Maybe in the category of "yes - there are stupid questions", but what's the difference between the Splash Guard and Mudflap? I put Open Country AT 3's on my Disco and they're tossing grit up the sides. Not a major issue but I'll put guards on, anyway.

I guess no one else knows, either . They look like the same thing to me.

I can't say there's a difference and I only see "mudflaps" as Discovery OEM accessories. Not to hijack your thread, but I just got around to installing my fronts today and the attachment process was a bit over-engineered and took a lot longer to tackle than i expected with the combo of a screw, adhesive, and clamps! I was able to do the fronts with the suspension raised without having to remove wheels. I'm hoping i'll be able to do the rears this way, given you can't turn the rear wheels for additional clearance to work with. Can anyone confirm, as the instructions say to remove the wheels?

I’m going to have to look this up again because I thought it was just a couple screws per. Even in the rears, it looks like there’s room to get a socket in there.

I think it's doable.. that screw you see is just to loosen up the fender liner. The attachment bracket and screw you have to replace is at the very bottom, below your circle. And then you also have to drill a hole in the outside of lower plastic trim panel at the right of the circle. Should be fun!
