Default TD6 Service

Hi,

My lease is coming up on my '`8 Td6 - Love the car and it has only 25k miles - i am seriously considering purchasing the car, but the service costs have been staggering. Every service at the dealer has been around $1k. Usually around $450 in parts and $700 in labor. Is that what people are charging at other dealers, what about independents. I am in the NYC/NJ area.

Thanks

Not sure what they are doing for that $ seems very expensive to me.

You need an independent. Can get many of the parts about 20pc less than dealer mark up, and labor substantially lower per hour. But find one that works with LR

Can you diy some stuff? Eg doing all four brakes and rotors run over $2000 at dealer. You can do it yourself for a few hundred in parts and a few hours of time. Not complex. Similarly for oil changes etc

Just had my 24MO / 32,000KM done even though we were at 26,000KM. Exactly that amount & split. Independents that service enthusaists are the way to go, we use the dealer for convenience.

Initially we did think this was going to be our forever-until-EVs-were-sorted; however the leaky wind screen & grounding gremlins dissuaded us, based on this & 2 other LRs reliability experience. Good luck either way.

I just did the 64k service myself. I had the dealer print out what they planned to do.

I noticed that MOST of the service entailed "inspections" which eat up a lot of labor time. I wound up replacing the cabin filter, engine air filter, fuel filter, oil filter and performed an oil change as well as a transfer case fluid change. Spent around $600 in parts and took me a Saturday afternoon or less.

What servicing are you getting? I buy rotella T6 5-w40 at autozone and get my filters off Amazon. $30 to have a guy a quick stop shop change the oil. Never had any other servicing issues. I’m a 2017 TD6 with 42500 miles.

Ford runs the same motor in the F150 so you can use their recommendations which the rotella t6 is.
