Do dealerships have service history available?

Do dealerships have service history available?
I'm going to look at an 03 Disco, and the place doesn't have records (possible bargaining tool?).
Does LR keep a database of service history? If I call up the nearest dealership, would I be able to find out if it had the key services done?
Thanks in advance...

When I called the shop that maintained my prospect car, they couldn't talk to me about the car unless their client ok'ed it.
There are so many of these on the market, I wouldn't buy without a service history. Finding the one with the best maintenance records will save you loads of cash.

The dealer can only pull up service performed at a LR dealer. If thetune upwas changed at Joes Crab Shack and Auto Repair and the oil chnaged at Wal-Mart they will not have record of that.
The dealer only knows what other dealers did. Warrenty ot otherwise.

RE: Do dealerships have service history available?
Yeah, same thing happened to me. I bought it anyway, and when I took it in they already had a list of stuff that was wrong with the truck that included:
Leaking radiator (impossible to see on first inspection)
left rear axle seal
transfercase leak
I was fine with it though, because I bought 2k below my budget. I did this precisely so I could have any problems fixed, which I did. I highly recommend you do the same, though with an '03 you'd likely have less work to do. IF it has been well maintained.
Find one with service records and have 2k sitting around to spend on it.

Thanks for all the replies. It's a local sale, so I'm gonna go take a look maybe tomorrow. The seller welcomed me to have it inspected before purchase. Who knows, it may have some paperwork in the glovebox.
Is there a "what to look out for" thread here for the Discos? I tried searching but I must be doing something wrong. I get no results returned it seems like no matter what I type in as search terms.
Thanks again...

I just typed in looking to buy a Disco and found lots of threads.
What specific questions do you have?
