Default Time to trade

Well - after 6 very happy years of motoring, we have hit 100k miles on our 2018 Discovery and decided it's time to trade it. Picked up a Defender 130 as our new ride

The Discovery was excellent - everything we were looking for in a 3 row family suv. Refined, very well equipped, great driving experience and very reliable. Just routine maintenance and some early irritation with a laggy acceleration that was addressed with a software patch. Otherwise hours and hours of happy motoring.

Never let us down, and very little beyond routine maintenance.

Just posting as we usually hear of all the issues and bad stories on here (as a place people come for help). So wanted to share a happy experience too!

Btw we ran the routine annual service and hit 16k miles each year between oil changes. No adverse effects that we could see and the one year I did oil analysis early on it was still in good shape at 16k miles. Just one data point of course.

About 3 weeks sway from doing the exact same thing. Going to a 130x.

Great to hear! Needs to be more of these kinds of posts.

At 120K on a ‘17 HSE TD6, this thing is amazing! Hardly any maintenance outside of the routine (5-8K) oil changes and fuel filter swaps. Shooting for 500K miles!

Yes I did 130X too. Love it so far! Was debating the 110 as the 130 is a full 16 inches longer than the Disco, but glad we went full size. Interestingly they significantly changed the wing mirrors so although the car is the same width, the mirror tip to tip is a lot narrower on the Defender. The P400 engine is very smooth and quiet.

And on the original post, agree that would be nice to hear more happy stories too!

Thank you for that. The people I have talked with (Justin and Eric @ LKY8 and Josh from Hill Country) all say it is a good replacement for the D5. Honestly, I would still consider keeping the D5 if we just did not need the additional room that the 130 provides. With 4 kids in car seats and a GSD that goes with us it will be a welcome update. I did get some good news from Front Runner last week. I can purchase the additional parts needed to make the rack from the D5 fit on the 130 so things are slowly coming together. I just need the 5 back from the shop so I can take things off to trade it in. The longer it takes the larger my parts list grows from LKY8 and powerful UK. ugh.

Let me know if you’ve got any accessories you’d like to part with!

We are pondering (sort of) the same! We are at 83K on wifey’s 2018 TD6 (with extended warranty)… we have had quite a few issues over the years, but you know what? We both still freegin love this truck. We have cross shopped the new GX, Cayenne, and X5/X7s…. Both the wife and I keep coming back to the Disco. We had a Defender loaner last week; and we liked it. But not as much as the Disco. I’m scouring the forums for input… should we keep the TD6 for the rest of the warranty (about another year)? Or go ahead and bite the bullet and get I to a new (gas) Disco while I still have some okay equity…? The Fort Worth dealer has a beautiful new/used Metropolitan edition that we are interested in… but the practical side of me wants to keep driving the TD6 to the end of the warranty!
