Question Tires - Life Expectancy?

I'm sure this has been discussed multiple times here, but I'd love to hear what your experiences are with tires. I'm having to have yet another set put on today and went back through my service records and this will be my second set in 2 years. In that timespan, I've put 16k miles on my Discovery. Are you guys getting more/less mileage out of your tires?

It all depends on the tire and type.

The Hankook's I put on are at 30k with plenty of tread left.

Nice, I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 last time and although it has provided a great ride, 16k miles doesn't cut it for me. Any thoughts on the OEM tire (Pirelli Scorpion Verde)?

Mine came new with Goodyears, but others may have opinions on the Pirelli's.

All depends on the tires for sure. I am running Toyo AT III. Have about 25k on them, had a balance and rotation last month and tread is at 50%. Potentially could get 50k from these tires.

If a new tire starts with 12/32 inches of tread and you have 6/32 left after 25K miles, you really only have 4/32 of useable tread left because a tire is worn out when it's got 2/32 left.
Or, here in Colorado, just 3/32 left since there's a law requiring 3/32 minimum tread in certain winter situations.

if it starts with only 10/32 inches of tread and you are down to 5/32 you only have 2/32 to 3/32 left.

Verdes won't last either. Ours didn't make 22K. Now, they were great tires otherwise [for an all season].

Really liking these Nitto Nomad Grapplers so far but it's early. Have GREAT road manners for an ATR. Anxious to see how they do at the cabin next week and again in late Sept.

Take a look at the UTQG treadwear ratings for the different tires in question before committing. That'll give you a feel for how much life you can expect out of them.
