Default Trailer Electronic Brake OEM Pre-Wire

When I bought my Disco in March, 2020 (with the factory installed hitch connection) I knew I was going to need my Electronic Trailering Brake connected due to the weight of trailer I haul. I could not find any information on the hook up option. The dealership was not sure and had 'never been asked', so I figured it could not be that hard to find the wiring harness to tap into for connecting my brake. I removed the panel below the steering wheel and slid my fat you know what to take a took look up under the dash. There it was connected to a support... the gray receiving end below. The harness to connect my brake to the LR harness is readily available as it is the same harness for Ford trucks.

Anyway... I have been meaning to post pics to help out others... I hope this helps someone.

So I’m curious...
As I didn’t have a factory hitch, I intend to get the dealer to install it, given it appears in the accessory catalogue, so I wonder if that connector is there?

It is, so is a connector for a 7 pin electrical setup. You can easily see both by looking into the rear bumper and unscrewing the cover under the steering wheel. I had my tow hitch installed.

I have a wireless brake controller so I don’t know use the connector.

Tows great.

I'd still go for the wireless trailer brake controller rather than run a hard wire; how many times do you have to modify the setting once you get it setup where you want it with that particular trailer?

The hard wiring was already factory installed, so all I had to do was buy the connecting harness and mount the brake. I do not have to adjust the gain/sensitivity at all now because I 'tuned' it in the first time I towed that trailer.

do you have a link for the accessory catalogue?

Also does the dealer need to add software or that isn't possible since the Discovery wasn't 'born' with the trailer hitch option?

I'm contemplating having it installed on my 2022 Discovery. Quoted price around $2k installed?

Dealer or LR Independent can load the software for 1hr charge. Easy deal.

Ive made a lot of posts on towing related stuff and I realized I needed a brake controller so which brake controllers are recommended I was not looking to spend way too much money but a reasonable price does anybody run the Reese Towpower 8508211 Brake Controller its pretty affordable I was wondering the quality.
Thanks

The Hopkins Impulse controller Model #47235 I have works just fine. Cannot remember what paid for it... Probably a newer model out now too. kj
