Velocity AP 3.0 S/C tune
2019 D5, gas motor. Purchased the Velocity AP tune for the AJ126 3.0 S/C motor over Black Friday, finally got around to installing it.
The process is simple, you plug your VFlash tuner into the computer, download the software, and update it.
You'll then hook up a battery charger to your car (don't want the battery dropping below a certain voltage, otherwise you can brick your ECU.) plug the VFlash into your OBD2 port, and do a partial read. Takes about 30-40 minutes.
Download the file off the VFlash, upload it to the Velocity AP website, and note any mods / octane you want the tune for. I request 91 octane, no mods. Received the file back in a few days, and uploaded it to the car.
Factory hp/tq is 340/332, tune alone brings it up to 416/353 on 93 octane. 91 will bump down the numbers a tiny bit.
Initial impression, low RPM felt the same, but higher RPM - 4000+ you'll feel a difference. Before, the car felt flat and restricted, now it just keeps pulling to redline. Upper & lower pulley will boost the numbers even higher (475/470) , and you'll feel the gains across the entire RPM band (you can check the dyno graphs on the VAP website) but I didn't want the hassle. Still on my first tank of gas, so we'll see how the MPG numbers are looking after a couple of weeks. At some point when I do the coolant pipes, I may get the S/C rebuilt and ported, that should bump numbers up across the range. Another positive is that you can flash back to stock for states that do an OBD2 smog to maintain the factory checksum.
Anyway, Black Friday they do a 25% off sale, so you can get it for a pretty good price.
