Default Who has the 2020?

I’m at the dealership getting my leaking windshield worked on and looking at the new year models. How are you feeling about that steering wheel? The controls seem the opposite of what a discovery should be. Glossy, slippery, more digital. I didn’t start it up or anything but not sure I’m liking it. Is it slippery?

If you mean what I think you mean my 2019 has the same steering controls (the glossy buttons that light up and change function based on what you’re doing, like soft buttons on phones).
They generally work ok and I don’t find them slippery.
Takes some getting used to like everything.
I wouldn’t care if they were like this or the older buttons. However I don’t see any real benefit to this “improvement”. Although in reviews I did see many complain that the old buttons felt loose and cheap so this gives a perception of higher quality.

Pretty sure the benefit is those buttons are digital and can change their icons based on selection. For example when you are in music it allows for music controls.

That said, I am not a fan of them, I prefer the tactile feedback of the 2017 buttons. I found myself attempting to use the button for music and it had changed to some other menu functionality. Being an owner for two years I find the black piano finish to be a dust magnet and would imagine this would carry through on those buttons.

I enjoy the adaptive buttons on my '19. No issues at all.

I actually like the adaptive buttons on my 2020 steering wheel. What is nice, on the left hand side that controls the volume, if you sweep your finger in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion on the perimeter of the button, it will raise or lower your volume. Overall they are nice, look high-end, and are also being used in the Range Rovers.

The buttons on our 2019 are nice and work well. I just thought it has always been on HSE and lux.

Yep - I love this. Like an iPod Classic.

I have an 18 with the old buttons. I have had a loaner RR with the glossy. I like them both....except my heated steering wheel indicator is hard to see in the daylight, the glossy are much easier to see if it is on or not.
