Default WiNO’s new to me Disco5

Happy to get back into Land Rover. Had an old LR3 that I heavily modified and loved. It went everywhere. Such an impressive off road vehicle.

The wife needed a new 7-seater and took the opportunity to get back into the brand. So just picked up a 2017 with only 44k miles.

First things first…tires! Needed to ditch the street tread and bought BFGoodrich KO2’s in 275-55-20

Also went over to Lucky8 and picked up a 1” Proud Rhino “lift kit”. I’ve installed a few lift kits and laugh because this thing is the easiest and cheapest rig to lift. Didn’t want to go as big as in my LR3. This build will be more understated and under the radar but will get all the goodies we need for good family off roading and overland trips.

Thanks to the forum for all the tips and links! Here are her new shoes before/after shots.

Cheers!

Looks good. Is it the gas or diesel?

Thanks! Its the Si6 gas engine. Was looking at diesels for gas mileage but ended up finding this clean gasser and couldn’t pass it up. It’s got plenty of pick up and go for our needs.

Any tips on sourcing a full sized spare and aftermarket trailer hitch for these things?

I can’t speak to the full sized spare but it seems like the OEM hitch is the best option if you are doing any real towing or have a heavy hitch receiver accessory.

I ordered mine online from Land Rover Merriam

For full sized spare, try eBay. Sometimes there are sets of takeoff wheels. But usually sellers want to sell all four

You could always get a non matching full size just as a backup if needed

I think it's strange they chose to sell them with a real spare only as an option

Default tires for sale

Just listed the 20” 255/55 tires that came off. Let me know if you’re interested. Thanks.
