2001 se7!
I just got back from the auction where I got a 2001 discovery SE7 for only $200! Im super excited about it, amd i cant wait to drop it off at Land Rover Carlsbad and have them make me a new key! It didnt have a key when it got impounded. Its a dark blue, with tan interior. I couldn't be more excited!

If you get a new key, be sure and get the 'barcode' with it if possible, it makes coding the new key to your car much easier. You can do it without, but you will need the six digit code on the electronic board and access to a Nanocom to recode it for you. Just to emphasize, if the original owner does not have the keys, you must buy a key WITH transponder, not just the fob cover. Land Rover will charge you about 300 bucks per key, so you probably don't want to go that way, if you can find used keys it is possible to make them work with your car.
I am green with envy - I would love to get a D2 for 200 bucks. Welcome to the forum!

I asked about the coding and how much it was. Itll be 225 for the fob and blade, plus 110 for coding. I've tried coding keys before, its just a nightmare (for me at least). They offered to give the truck a good once over for me as a courtesy, I tow a ton of jags and land rovers to them. I had an old 98 disco a long time ago, but since I have a newborn, this'll be way easier to lug every one around. Ive been steadily reading the forums and know to look out for head gaskets, the front driveshaft, and a full lube job done on the entire chassis. My partners not as excited as I am about the whole thing, but im sure she'll come around.

So I tried getting hold of the P.O., and no luck. I then called the locksmith and had teo keys kade for $200, just blank generic keys, no programming, or fancy pancy stuff. Yesterday was the first time I got to hear it run! Slow crank at first, but im hlaming a old battery on that. It purrs like a kitten. I tried the windows, the front two don't work, the drivers side rear works, the passenger side rear went down, wont come back up, but I'll work on that later. I of course have the infamous 3 Amigos on the dash, and as soon as I can afford it, I'll be taking it to my LR mechanic to have him check out everything. Do a fluid flush, and see what he thinks. On the ride home (about 7 miles) the back end felt very swayish. When we got to the house finally, I pushed on the top of the truck and it definitely sways. Im thinking tired suspension, or blown air ride. I looked under and didnt see any air lines run to the suspension but I did see coil springs. I'm assuming it just needs some serious tlc, a good bath, and a owner who is going to actually appreciate it.
