Talking Another Newbie

Hello all,
Complete 90 Newbie here, I've wanted an old Landy for about 45 years ever since my dad took me out to work with him one day back in about 1977. He was involved in crop field trials and the works vehicles were all series beasts of various size. I've finally bitten the bullet and bought myself a 1987 90 pickup which has clearly been modified and worked on by umpteen previous owners, so I'm slowly working out what does what. I've just posted a question in the defender forum as I'm not sure about a couple of switches. I'll apologise now as there's bound to be more newbie questions which to everyone else will be blatantly obvious, be kind....I've had a Landy before but it was a Freelander and I always had the hankering for something with the turning circle of a bus that sounds like a tank.
So, first basic question...if a Landy has an engine change would anything else also be changed? Mine is a 1987 that was originally a V8 and is now a TD5. It also has an automatic gearbox that my garage thinks was from a Disco 2, so possibly the engine was from the same? To better understand everything I'd like to get a Haynes manual, but clearly which one is the question?

Hi, welcome to the forum. A Haynes manual is helpful but you should get a copy of the actual Land Rover manuals (RAVE). If you look up WaltNYC (a member of this forum), he has a link to many of the manuals in his signature.
