from built XJs to a disco I
hey guys! posting up to say hello. always wanted a disco, and was able to scoop one up for (what seemed to me) like a good deal. its a 95 that i bought from the original owner with 119k for $2300.. i believe a SE7 model, dual sunroofs, jump seats out back. has a few quirks but i've been reading up and will be doing some troubleshooting this weekend. the rover has a new waterpump, alternator, and accessory belt. it seems to be in great shape, the backseats look as if they were never used. mechanically it seems great... great power, the auto shifts firmly and quickly.
crap cell phone pic for now..

what im coming from...

98 cherokee, built 78 ford HP44 front (OX locker, chromos..), D60-ISU rear (lock right lockers, discs, 35 spline shafts..), hydro assist steering, 35s, race-spec suspension, fully plated frame and hybrid cage. recently parted this thing out bc i stopped getting excited by beating the crap out of something i also wanted to drive on the road.
and my first XJ

bought it when i was 17 completely stock, learned how to turn wrenches on it, drove it cross country and barely made it home. basically tore the body in half from wheeling it. had built stock axles, rear locker, 33s.
gonna start going over the rover, changing all the fluids going by the 60k guide on here. oil and coolant look good, gonna start with power steering and brakes this weekend, and replacing the right rear window regulator that i ordered to keep the window working. i have a M-F company car, so this is going to be my weekend cruiser/wheeler. i'd love to get a roof rack, rear ladder, and toss my 42" LED light bar from my jeep onto the top of the disco. hopefully i'll be sticking around a while!

I hope so, I'm excited to see how your transition translates to a Rover. Beware, these 3.9/4.0 won't be near as reliable and/or fast as the inline 4.0s you are used to. Also, you are more into the hard wheeling, this isn't exactly the best site for that. Check out DiscoWeb Message Boards - Powered by vBulletin for guys that actually wheel their trucks
this thing wont get wheeled anywhere near as hard. mostly the beach and class VI roads. and this thing feels WAY faster than my 98 XJ... that pig was a tad over 5,000lbs. even with 5.13 gears it was slow as hell.
i'll check out discoweb, too... thanks!
