finaly got me one
A 2000 Disco 2.
I have been a crazy off road enthusiast for so many years that I can't hardly remember them all and have wheeled many different rigs.
My latest truck was a 4dr Vitara with a 4 inch lift and such....... rolled it badly two weeks ago
I gotta say the 1st thing that really ground my gears was when I decided to get new wipers......... you can only use disco 2 wipers and I live probably 5-6 hours from the nearest dealer. I got lucky though and found a site selling the arms and blades from the disco 1 that bolt right onto the D2 and support other wipers.
Upon popping the hood I also noticed that I will prolly need to put an add in the paper to hire a 12 year old with skinny little arms to help me change the plugs/wires.
Alota lame aspects to this truck off road worthy wise, but every truck has a down point or two...... Ill learn this baby just like all the rest.

Destroyed my good lens in the accident and only have a telephoto long assed one....pics need to be taken from 30 feet away to fit the truck in.
Mods for the Disco will be coming soon......first I gotta get the repair manual so I can learn all the strange things that appear to be attached to these trucks.

Wecome to the LR Club!!! Sorry to hear you Rolled the Vitara, I owned a grandVitar New in 1999, never lifted it but wheeled it stock up in the Snow and it was a decent driving truck. Back in 1999 it was the quietest, best drive mini SUV out.
I came from a 1995 Mitsubushi Montero SR with a 2" lift, and sofar my dealings with the 02 disco specially the mechanical part have been a good experence, the Discovery is so much easer to work on,compared to the mitusubishi.

Yea the vitara was incredible! So was my samurai, but my toyota was the best sofar and Im hoping the D2 will treat me well as I will treat it great in return
Cant seem to find a repair manual for it though........ if I order the manual for the D1 will I be far off?
This whole V8 thing I am loving!!!!! where I live some of the trips through the Fraser Canyon can be hell with no horse power (vitara)
I think its called the discovery because it takes a few days to discover what all the funny little options and switches are.

here download the Rave CD for you model http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.p...&Itemid=29
I am enjoying the V8 myself. and yes the buttons are totally backwards to me too now. from my reading the Disco my need a tad more attention than a jap built vehicle but i am willing to go the distance with it.
my lift i installed this weekend. easy work compared to the mitsu.

Wow...perfect looking ride hight on that lift! Now if the front bumper is replaced with something not so low it would be crazy sweet!
What kind of lift is it...how high and how much? Max Tire size? Hows it feel to drive?
I like the OME stuff that I had on my Vitara and I know they make stuff for the disco too.
Thanks for that download, but Im not sure about the way to make it work (im on a mac), but ill give it a go.

Is is it spacers or lifted coils?
Is your alignment all good and break lines, steering and such?
Your including the new tire size in that 3"s of ride hight?
I love Old Man Emu stuff

Yes, everything fits fine. Plenty of lenght on the break lines.
I measured the truck before the lift, with the aset of 260/60/18's Falkens 33 inchfrom floor to bottom of fender flare.
I measured after the lift install and still with the 260,60/18's and it was 36 inch.
I measured after the new 285/60/18's and it was 36-5/8 inch.
I willl measure again in about a week, i bet everything will settle a tad

Looking to me like we have different trucks.
I have the airbags in my rear so it looks so far like I need to do a minimum 2 inch lift with 2 inch spacers in the rear with the airbags.
From what Im reading Ill need to do some extra modifications because of it too unless I can find a smaller spacer for the rear.
Have you figured out how to get your spare tire to fit yet? On my samurai and vitara I could just reverse the tire on the mount and be fine up to a 31.
Maybe this thread should be split and moved to the modification section
