Greetings from Athens, GA
Hey everyone,
I have recently saved this '98 Discovery and plan to get her going back to her full potential. This Disco still belongs to my Father-in-law, but he has gratefully "loaned" it to me to get some things repaired on it and make it as dependable and road (on and off) worthy as I can.
Everything is bone stock and has relatively low mileage for its age. At just under 100k miles on it, the Disco still seems to run pretty well. Everything so far still seems to work and is pretty clean on the interior.
I have stalked this forum for some time now as to gain a little more info on these Disco's as to one day start on this project for my Father-in-law.
Things that I have noticed right away from my shake down run from his house to mine has been the death wobble.
Other things that are an issue are the leaky sun roofs and the drip rail / A pillar leak on the driver side and maybe the passenger too.
Plans for the Disco are simple for now. Just get her going again drive it daily to address any issues that may arise.
Here are some current pics of her when I took "ownership"

Your first and best resource for all the repairs you need to make is this forum. Do searches on all the issues you mention - you will find that someone has faced the problem already, and there may be relatively inexpensive and simple fixes to some of the problems! For example, you may find that the leaking sunroof issue is related to the leaking A pillar issue..... and both problems may (just may) be related to blocked drains. Wouldn't that be great if it was simple and cheap to fix?
