Default Greetings from Borneo..

Hi Everyone, I'm a Canadian expat currently living in Brunei on the island of Borneo with my wife & 3 year old daughter. I purchased a Disco 1 3.5 V8 EFI here a few years ago and I'm looking to learn about engine repair as my wife and I plan on travelling around the world in either an outfitted discovery or defender when our daughter heads off to Uni.

Looking forward to learning from and giving back to the forum.

Cheers.
Chris

Hi Chris,

Isn't the 3.5 carbed? as far as I know the first EFI was the 3.9

Size wise a defender would be better for world travel, easier to access items too

Heh heh, If it's carbed then I'm definitely going to have to find a new mechanic :-) As far as I understand it, Land Rover V8 engines used a twin SU carburettor system up to 1989 then switched to a Lucas 14CUX fuel injection in 1990.

Cheers,
Chris

I suppose technically someone could have bolted the EFI system onto an earlier motor. They should be functionally similar since the 3.5 and 3.9 are same block but different bore.

When you say Borneo all I think of is Camel Trophy
