Default Greetings from York PA

Long time LR fan, always grew up wishing I had one. I picked one up for $300 last month, from a Craigslist post.

Not really a big talker but wife thinks I should have friends. My plan is to make it a trail/light off road rig. I hope to keep this thread updated as I start overhauling it.

Welcome aboard. Discos make pretty good friends, and are somewhat of a gateway vehicle to lots of technical discussions so you're on the right track. Get all the appropriate manuals in the post above mine and go to town. Good luck with the truck, almost wish I'd seen it first!

Thank you. The previous owner, a teacher for fed up with it after 75k miles (it has 156k now). I have no information about the first owner. The car needed head gaskets and a new rear diff so she let it go. It is in fair condition with a solid frame, minimal rust in the back as usual.

Here's the list of tasks:

Head gasket job: it started as a simple head gasket and it is becoming a complete top end overhaul. I bought new pullies, belt tensioner, complete gasket kit from Atlantic British, crankshaft sensor, 180 degree thermostat, power steering pump, plug cables, plugs, and the list goes on.
