Default Hello from Canada!

Hi All!

I'm a twenty-five year old full-time student from Victoria BC - very nice to meet you all =) I'm also a musician and photographer/journalist, as well as tech support specialist for a music software company. As you can see, I'm pretty busy.

Anyway- on to my story!

I have always loved Land Rovers, ever since I was small. My younger brother's best friend's step-dad (whew!) had about five Landys sitting around his yard when we were kids (I was about ten at the time), and I was always really keen on a green 109 he had. Alas, he would never sell it to me and I went on to have a number of other vehicles instead (a datsun, a toyota, two volvos and a mercedes over the years <g&gt.

This year, he moved to Ottawa and gave the 109 to me for free - what a cool gift! I'm hoping to get it road worthy asap; of course, being a student means I don't have a lot of dough, and I have to keep my current car (ye olde 1980 Volvo 240) running while I do it... It's probably going to take a while!

So - my new Land Rover is a '61 Series II. It unfortunately (I guess; I don't really know) has had its engine replaced with a Chevy 250 - but luckily everything else is dead original on it, down to the blinkers. At the moment, it's not driving, as it needs quite a bit of work. It has two small holes in the frame that need welding, the gas tank needs replacing, the brakes on one side and the shocks on the front left... So, a bunch of stuff. I'll obviously have some questions for you guys But, one day it'll be going. I can hardly wait!!

Default RE: Hello from Canada!

Nice truck, one thing you may want to do is get with people that have
the 109's and find out what parts are getting hard to find and get those
before the parts are gone.
