Hello from the Colorado Rockies
New member here but a long time Land Rover Owner.
I'm currently lucky enough to live in the Colorado Rockies, in a small town called Allenspark, literally in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Originally from the UK where I owned a trusty Defender 90 - a bullet proof vehicle but one that does not try to hide its agricultural heritage.
After moving to Chicago and feeling that I owed it to my adopted country I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee that fell apart - literally engine parts, body panel and interior trim fell off on a regular basis. After 3 years I got fed up and luckily I found a brand new Disco I that had sat on the dealer forecourt for 400+ days. He let me have it for below invoice. Sadly, though not surprisingly, he went out of business soon after.
In the fall of 2004, I bought a Disco II, probably one of the last made. It was the same price as the Disco I that I bought 8 years earlier - I guess that LR America were doing clearance incentives for their dealers!
Since then I bought a used 2002 P38 for the wife and then sold it when she decided that she wanted a Range Rover Sport - but that's a different story.
The current Disco has 112k miles and is need of some serious attention if its going to make it to the target 200k ... more on that later.
