Hello from CT
Hello, not such a newbee to Rovers but new to this forum. We are on our second Rover, a 2002 SE7 with 76K miles. We replaced our 2000 because of a rotted frame and we needed 2 more seats because we now have 4 children and we would like to go everywhere in one vehicle.
Our intro to Rovers is kind of funny, my wife is from Tampa and when we moved up here we had a 1990 V1500 Suburban that was absolutely unstoppable but for her commute it wasn't practical. So being a former GM mechanic we test drove all the GM SUVs and minivans. We test drove a loaded Buick Terazza and she started balling like her favorite dog had just died....she is violently allergic to minivans. After 3 months of driving everything GM had to offer I gave up and told my wife; "fine, I don't care where it's made or who makes it find something you like!!" the very next day at the parking garage where she worked she called me and said " I just saw this SUV that was really pretty and just the right size, it's a Land Rover Discovery II?", she had no idea coming from FL what they are and what a status symbol these vehicles are or what they were all about, I just about passed out. All I had ever heard about Landies were that they cost $$$$$$ to fix and always broke down. Before I could recover she found one on Cars.com and had set up an appointment to look at it. After driving it 60 seconds it was all over, she was in love. We bought it and learned the hard way on many fronts but she always loved driving it. We have been a Rover family ever sense. With the second one I am applying all that learned knowledge and hope to learn more.
Thanks for reading.
