Welcome to the forums, my wife drives an Escape and it's what we mostly use as our family car.

Hi & Welcome!

Which part of TX are you in? Land Rovers are great if you get a well maintained one or you just maintain it properly. RRC/D1/D2 are awesome, but do require some mechanic skills so you can save $$$ on common issues/repairs. If you want a more reliable engine the LR3 with it's 4.4L V8 is an excellent choice. It's EAS can be troublesome, but once you replace the air bags and pump it will last a very very long time.

Just depends on what you want to do with it & how much you plan to spend on it.
