Default Hello LR forums

While I am relatively new here, this is like post 5. I am not to the Rover world. I hung out at Guns and Rovers for a long time when I had my Series III.
I now am on my second LR3. The first one a 2005 left a big hole in my wallet and I stayed away from them for years. Well Land Rovers overall. But now I am back in one as of December 2019 and it is a 2007 LR3. I
Both were SE's.
First one had the HD package and I used it once
Second one does not at this time.
I do not have a recent Pic of the 2007 (I need to take some) but overall it is Zermatt Silver with an Alpaca interior. My first one was the other Silver (I know they have 2 types of silver) with the black interior. I learned two things from that. 1. never drop something in the dark as it is gone till morning and 2, it sucks in the summer.
So while I prefer the silver color, I wanted an Alpaca interior. Damn they get dirty fast.

Why a LR3 over say a LR4?
I do not like the what I call the "disco head and tail lights"
Price. I paid $5000 for mine and I am happy with that. The closest LR4 was over $12,000 with less miles yes, but that 5L and the repairs...... That leaves me 7K for repairs and some upgrades the way I figure.

Current Mileage 165,000 and well maintained.
PO recent work
Transmission service at 155,000
Passengers hub
New brakes all around

Plans,
Get it mechanically ready

So far
Just had the catalytic converters done (aftermarket) and O2 sensors, and yes one was bad and the other going out.
New drivers front hub
New belts
New plugs
Resealed the valve covers
New PCV
New tires (and a full size spare)
New cabin filter
Standard oil and filter.

Next
New rear axle bearings
Steering rack is leaking

Future (once back to work 100%)
ARB rear locker
Roof rack (still thinking on which one)
Some underside protection
Brake controller (to haul my M101 soon to be finished overland trailer)
Rear drawer system or custom platform
Hidden winch which I have both the winch and mount already
Decision on what to do with the spare

That should do it for now.

So happy to be back in one and I have to say the ride is everything I remembered.

Welcome to the forum.

The brake controller is a simple cheap mod. Looked up the numbers on reese or curt for the control and plug n play harness for wiring in.
