Hello from Oz
Hi, I have purchased the LR Discovery 4 TDV6 (as it's called in Oz) mid last year, having previously owned a Dodge Nitro (diesel), and Mazda Tribute in the last decade. So far so good, none of the issues that people have warned me about in term of build or reliability 
, and am really enjoyed it. Here in Oz it's only a little bit more expensive the the Japanese equivalence (Prado, Pajero, Pathfinder etc) but the diesel and auto box combination are way ahead of any of them, in term of power and efficiency, and that is just the base diesel engine option. And the interior screams luxury. 'Well worth every dollar.
