Default HELP!! Partials of metal is in oil

I had the car independently checked three weeks ago to be told there are particles of metal in the oil. This is accompanied by a large sound which they said was from the timing chain. I have contacted Land Rover and they said it needs to be diagnosed with them in order to move forward and maybe look at Land Rover helping with the cost because the car is only five years old I bought it from Land Rover dealer it has a full service history. It is a discovery sport 2.0 landmark version. I have now spoken to Land Rover this morning and they said it could be worse and a lower engine problem has anybody had experience of this? The car has only done 59,000 miles and they have said if it’s a lower engine problem it could cost up to £20,000 to get it fixed.
