Cool Just bought my first Rover!

Hi all,
I just bought my first Land Rover about a month ago and i love it! I want to do some work to it so I can get her in the mud ASAP lol. It's an 04 Disco II stock. Any thoughts as to what I might want to do first in terms of mods? I'm not a mechanical moron but I'm no genius either so the tech lingo is a little daunting. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I just bought my first rover disco 11 as well. its a 2004 , about 4 weeks now... but i am getting a tapping sound when it is in park , but the car is still on... is this normal for this car.. I had it braught bk to the dealer and he had his guy flush and change the oil. he also told me to put Wynns valt and lip treatment in it. he also said it need heaver oil in the summer and lighter oil in the winter... the ticking happens only after a long drive...he also told me to change the oil every 1000 miles.

Default Sounds like your oil level is low

Hmm, sounds like tapping cams or something. In my experience (which is limited) that might mean your oil level is low. I have some oil loss coming from the gaskets around the oil pan and the front engine seal so I get the ticking if i forget to top it off. I use Mobil 1 5w-30 which is expensive but it's better than the cheap stuff and I have no ticks anymore.

change the oil every 1000 miles???? thats not right. you need to get the workshop manual www.landroverresource.com and find a better mechanic.

I would start by removing those running board side step things. They will just get hung up and cause damage. I am not sure about that thing in the front.

Remember, anything add on had the potential for getting caught up.

Other than that.

Tires, they make a huge difference. What kind do you have? How worn are the?
Maintenance, Make sure you are all caught up
Recovery Points, Make sure you have them!
Recovery Strap, Carry one!

If he meant change it within a 1000 miles of the flush, I might buy that. 1000 mile oil change interval? Absolutely not.
