Default Hi everyone

Hi all.
I pick up my first Discovery on Tuesday,.., all being well!
I was a Vauxhall Omega owner for the last 8 years, my last car being a lovely V6 3.2L elite estate with LPG conversion. The Omega owners forum was excellent for the amateur mechanic and I am hoping that this forum turns out to be just as good.
The car I am getting is the V8 4L with a BRC LPG conversion on a 2002 plate. 130k and no idea how many of those miles have been done on LPG.
I've paid a deposit and the balance is to be paid cash on collection.
The seller has said that the car is above average with no rot due to it having been undersealed.
I will look underneath to verify this. Will also check under the rear seat as I'm told they can rot from the inside out and that the underseal may have been put on to cover up the real state of affairs. Will check the engine. I know that Omegas can sometimes have a bit of Mayo on the oil filler cap as a result of short journeys. Are Discovery's the same in this respect? I'll also try to make sure that all electricals are working as claimed.
Does this forum have a maintenance guide section?

Cheers berserkerboy

Welcome to the forum!
I’ve had friends in England who did the LPG conversion on their P38 Range Rovers and they loved it! You will definitely save some dosh on petrol fill ups. Keep in mind the large LPG tank will sit in the rear of the truck so you will have minimal room for hauling or storage.
For a 16 year old Land Rover, you should definitely check all over the Discovery for any problems of rust, electrical, engine, cooling, transmission, suspension, and fluid leaks. You can do a search on this forum to find some of the Disco’s weaknesses so you know what to look for. If you aren’t mechanically inclined, see if the seller will allow you to find a local trusty mechanic to give it a good look over for any problems before you totally purchase it.

Cheers JUKE179r.
Will do the best I can. I have reasonable mechanical ability. Will take something to lie under the car and a good torch. Then check the rest of the car for all you mentioned. Rust is my major concern. I'll report back when I have seen the car. Hopefully, the private seller is knowledgeable about his assertions and genuine.
