Default Hi from Wales

Hi all from Wales, UK.

Just got me a 1983 109" high capacity pick up that'll be keeping me busy over the winter.
I've just finished doing up my boat, so now I need to get it to the water
With some help from you guys, It might get wet by the summer. (the boat i mean, I've already found out that landy's don't float!)

Keep up the good work and I'll see you in the tech section.

Warren

Welcome to the group. Check out my tech info at www.eurotekapg.com

What kind of work are you up against to get the "109" on the road?

Regards,
Geoman

Hi Geoman,

Great site, shame your not in the uk!

Work done so far is: Engine: (later 2.5 diesel, not 2.25) Big ends, piston rings, headgasket, injectors cleaned, thermostat, new battery cables and chassis mounting points cleaned (the engine was turning over real slow with a new battery) fan belt, filters.

Mechanical: New steering ball joints, brake shoes, brake cylinders, pipes, wipers, transfer brake overhauled.
new speedo cable

Body: New headlamp surround, wings straightened and filled, front end sprayed, new drivers footwell welded in
new drivers door with original skin re-fitted, new door tops, leather seats fitted!

Electrical: New headlamps, tail lamps, washer pump, connections cleaned and greased, new flasher units, engine
loom repaired

'All' I've got left is a new front chassis leg to be welded on and some patches on the chassis. Weld in the new passengers footwell. De-scale and waxoil of the chassis, re-spray of the rest of the body and a possible gearbox strip/replacement as it wont stay in 4x4. You have to hold the yellow **** down to keep it engaged (any ides?).

Apart from all that, there's not much wrong with it!

I've also got hold of some Nissan Patrol axles that I've been thinking of fitting. The front has disk brakes and better steering lock and the rear has a Limited slip differential. Has anyone out there ever fitted these to a series landrover? The front looks like it'll go straight on with a small mod to the drive flange, and the rear the same with the spring mounting pads moving in a couple of inches. A job for next winter i think!

Regards from a wet and windy Wales,

Warren
