I am new to the forum. I used to own a 1993 Range Rover Classic. I loved the truck, even though it seemed like it was always in the shop. The repair costs and fuel costs were high, but all of thisfaded away when I would drive it. I am thinking of purchasing a Discovery within the next 12 to 18 months, and wanted advice on the Series I and Series II Discoveries. I like the looks of the Series I Discoveries a lot (I know that it is very similar to the Series II Discoveries), but I understand that they are even more problem prone (read unreliable) than my old Range Rover. The Series II Discoveries seem to have quite a bit of electronic features (climate control as an example) that could fail, and then cost more than the truck is worth to fix. I am planning on using this truck as a secondary vehicle to drive to work (I commune 60 miles round trip, 5 days a week). I am also planning on using it off road, as a recreational vehicle for my self and my son. I would welcome assistance, recomendations, or information on this matter.
