looking to get my first rover
Hi everybody. I'm looking to get my first rover and know hardly anything about them. I am a college student, so I don't have a great deal of money to spend, but I need something bigger than my Cherokee and I'm selling my ducati monster b/c I hardly ride it. my first pick would be a defender, but I can't find one anywhere near the price range I have, which I wasn't expecting. it was recommended to me to get a range rover instead of a discovery if I just plan to drive it around town. What I would like to know is, I see a lof ot options around here w/ 70K-high 80K's on them for 10K-12K. Is there anything I need to be looking for in either of these? Thank you for your help.

RE: looking to get my first rover
Here is a few things to think about.
Most older LR or RR may not be in good shape, the vast majority will need
work due to lack of up keep by the owners (owner).
This will get very costly, unless you can do work yourself.
Most older LR or RR are 2nd or 3rd cars and are not day to day
drivers thats why the low miles and the gas they use.
Defenders cost more due to the few that came in to the U.S.
The best buy is the Disco's then the Ranger Rover.
With gas prices high LR and RR are selling much cheaper now.
If you buy one it is a love hate thing, love the truck hate the cost of up keep.
I hope this helps

RE: looking to get my first rover
I agree with everything Landzu said. Records are everthing when looking at a older Land Rover for a possible purchase. Read my tech info section at http://www.eurotekapg.com/techinfo.html to give you a little "heads up" background ---before--- you look and drive any more vehicles.
Best of luck,
