Default low charge battery

having problems with my '87 range rover. battery/alternator light came on and the engine will not stay engaged. the starter and altenator are brand new(just changed the altenator yesterday), but the engine will not start. the battery is still charged but not fully because the lights will glow dimmly. the rover will start if jumped by another car but then will die quickly (approx. 1-2 mins.). what is it? i don't know whether to look electricial, fuel system, or low tension relay. help!!

Default RE: low charge battery

i would guess that the battery might be old and need reeplacing or maybe the belt isnt tigh on the altenator and not spinning it good enough to properly charge it.
