Default This is my intro thread; there are many like it. This one is mine.

Hello, my name's Pete. I'm in Colorado and just picked up a 2004 Discovery SE7 with 106k miles. My experience with Land Rovers stared and ended within a short window. (2003-2005) I was a line-tech at Land Rover dealership. 15 years later, I thought it would be a good idea to finally pick one of these up and turn it into a mountain memory maker for the family. Thankfully I kept all my tools and mediocre wrench knowledge... I'll be starting a build thread here shortly.

When I purchased it April 2020.

I recognize that truck! Welcome. Nice score, looks super clean. Looking forward to your "mechanics-eye view" of these things. Any recollection of the timing cover fitment problem back in the day? That seems to be a huge source of internet lore taking over fact. Good luck with the truck.

If I lived in Colorado, I would own a Land Rover Discovery as well. Best snow machines ever made. Nice Garvin rack, I thoroughly enjoyed mine.

Thanks! Ah, so you knew of the previous owner? I didn't get to meet him during the purchase due to COVID, but I lucked out with him being an awesome seller and Land Rover enthusiast. This truck is in really good condition, previous owner did a great job maintaining. No, nothing really regarding the timing covers in the early 2000s. Now, this may have become an issue as these grew older within the last 15 years, I wouldn't of had any insight to that.

Thanks, yeah the rack has seen better days, lots of surface rust. Now that its in Colorado (dryer climate) the rust should slow down enough for me to worry about it later taking it down and re-finishing it in a few months.

I did not know the previous owner but many of us saw that truck for sale. It's a beaut.
