hey im new i live in germany, and i am buying my first land rover defender, ive searched 3 dealers, and 2 of them frankly all had rubbish, tall had rust, damaged panels etc. test drove one and its brakes were terrible, then i went to another dealer, where they had a blue, defender 110 TD5,2000, 104,000 KM, for 13,900 euros, i looked it over, no rust, one dent, engine sounded solid, hand brake works, checked the idiot lights, brakes, bulkhead, frame, cross members, all rot free and still had undercoating, 1 owner,had its papers in the center console, good tread, steering linkages and axels and prop shafts all solid. is there anything else i should look for? and is this a good price for a 110td5?

Ah, but the thing is, that one has 256.000 km, compared to the 104,000 km, wich (anyone can do math) is a 152,000km difference, wich is a great gap for any possible oopsies to occur, more wear on steering components, etc, 256000km is 160,969 miles, and the one im looking at is 64636 miles, so thats quite a gap, and mechanically speaking makes me a bit nervous, don't want a car that its head gasket will blow or will need new rings. and that one doesnt have a particle filter, the one im looking at does, wich in germany, will reduce the amount of road tax ill have to pay.

 

Very true I overlooked mileage. Did you lok at importing one from spain or portugal? Might be able to find one that was treated to better weather during its lifetime.
