Hi all,

Having spent years wanting a Discovery, I am now I possession of one. Bought a 2003 Discovery 2 on Friday, broke down Friday. Bearing and seal failed on the power steering pump. Being fixed Tuesday. As I have virtually zero knowledge of the workings of the discovery I thought I had better start my education by joining here and other Facebook groups. I’ve ordered a manual too, it’s a Haynes, are there any other manuals I should be buying and any resources I should visit. I see in the sticky that the landroverreaources website is down so don’t know what’s on there.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Have a great week ahead.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you hit the ground running and are right on track! If there's time to cancel the Haynes, you may as well. You want a copy of the RAVE manual, it's a .pdf that you can download from a number of places on this forum. You'll find as many dead links as you will live ones, however perseverance pays off. I think the more reliable links are in a few guys' signatures. You should also search out the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual (ETM) and the Electrical Library as well. If you plan on doing any work yourself these three .pdfs are essential. You may also want to consider adding your location to your profile. It's a handy bit of info that adds geographical relevance to your posts, aka expected climate, distance to known good/trusted resources, etc. Another piece of advise to post pics whenever possible when discussing repairs. I'm not exactly sure how this forum handles image hosting as I use my own server but I can't stress this enough. It saves a ton of time and guess work. Finally, put your vehicle in your signature, this also adds relevance to replies when people know you have an 03 Disco 2 and are familiar with how it came equipped. So there you go, good luck with the power steering repair. Luckily this hasn't happened to me yet however I'm pretty sure I've read about crossover pump that will fit the Disco and aren't as costly as the OE, but you'll have to either search that info out on your own or wait for someone to post it here.

Great advice, thank you. I’ve been searching for the rave manual but no luck yet, will keep searching. Is the ETM as difficult to source?

Brilliant thanks. I’ve got all the manuals now. Time for a little reading.
