Red face New guy checking in from San Antonio, Texas

Hello community, new here but not to Land Rover(as an admirer). I am however new to all the offroad lingo and Land Rover lingo, I am coming from the Lexus world. Just traded my Lexus for my dads old 2001 Discovery II SE. I'll be starting a thread in the disco II section with many questions, and it will be set in the "timeline" style so it will be my only thread but will have all my questions and progress as this beauty needs some of my tough love. Been a lurker, and know there is a lot of incredible info, hope to contribute the way I did to the Lexus community. Keep an eye out for my thread in the DiscoII section. Woohoo! Land Rover!

Best,
Ashtray

Hey and welcome from a fellow admirer now new owner. I've got lots of experience in offroad mods to vehicles but like you some of the Land Rover stuff is new to me. So congrats on your new purchase and good luck.

Thank you MjrWraith, but it wasnt a purchase! Just a family trade basically. But it is permanent. As of right now, the interior restoration is number 1 on the list as well as exterior. Then I plan to get that thing that monitors engine temp as well as other things. Not sure what it was called. Again though thank you for stopping by my thread!

It is called an Ultra Gauge - plugs into OBDII port, reads codes, displays values, makes alarm sounds, distracts guys worse than a half price bikini truck wash...

Haha, funny, Savannah Buzz. So are you saying it is or is not necessary? or is it a good buy?

Ok now I'm jealous I had to buy mine. The only thing I've had handed down to me is an '84 Harley Davidson FLT that's in near mint condition jeez!!!! Lol that's cool man it's always nice to have family and friends willing to help out with everyday needs and play pretty needs. Yeah I am borrowing brother's OBD II scanner till my UltraGauge comes in. I took one look at the page and saw why so many on here swear by it. As soon as you can I'd recommend it be one of your first upgrades IMHO. Ooooh bikini car wash where?!?!?!? Oh I guess I'm one of those distracted ones lol and yes I am proud to admit I am.
