Smile New to LR and new to forums.

Hello All. Today I picked up my 2004 Discovery, silver with tan leather, 105k miles. I have wanted one for years and finally did it!

I have been reading through many topics on the forum and I am amazed at how much information has been accumulated here. It is a great resource so thank you.

I tried to update my profile but there is a message that I am not authorized, so perhaps in a few days I can update.

So far (only a few hours) everything is working fine on my new Disco, which has been christened Elizabeth, after HRH. After doing all the reading I was holding my breath on the drive home that dashboard lights were going to start flashing or some major part would drop out of the bottom. I guess my confidence will build in time.

It is unlikely I will be off road driving, or adding many after market items. I have just always loved the look of these vehicles, and thought that the Disco II, with its British roots, would be the perfect ride for my English Setter to arrive at bird dog hunt tests.

I read the recommended high miles tasks on the forum and will have these done. There is a LR specialist in Jamestown RI and I will call him for recommendations.

My desire is for this to be a reliable, fun and unique car for my family to enjoy for many years to come.

Thanks for the welcome!

Yes welcome
I have had rovers for 15 years, Never been stranded. Had to do a bunch of work on them. But always got where I was going..
Keep the maintenance up and repair when necessary it will keep you going. I do have a spare just in case ..
Read about the front drive shaft and get a monitor for coolant temperature like an Ultra gauge or ELM 327 with phone app.. never overheat . never . make sure front drive shaft has grease fittings or else change it. plenty info on here.
