Hi all,

After deciding to buy, repair and sell some cheap cars as a hobby (Peugeots) to give me something to tinker with to keep me out of trouble, i made the decision to get a Freelander 1. Having owned a Kia Sorento 3.5 V6 for a couple of years i wanted a 4x4 that was slightly cheaper to run. So as an impulse buy i got CHAD who is a Freelander 1 2.5 V6 in fairly tidy condition but with an overheating issue only revealed after driving 30miles and getting too hot 2 miles from home, when i collected the vehicle. So this was my first introduction to Freelander ownership. Currently flushing the cooling system, replacing the thermostat (Keiser) and giving it a service. As it would appear i made a basic rookie mistake and didn't check the prop shaft was fitted so have purchased a replacement which if i have solved the overheating issue i will refurbish and reinstall after checking the rear diff and transfer box.

I have already used information off the forums to assist me and will continue to use the valuable information and advice i find here, contributing where i can.

BTW i fell in love with CHAD in the first 10 mins of driving and i am looking forward to him becoming my daily driver.

Dave

Not the 3.5 V6 - 10-20mpg and nearly £600 a year road tax.
