Well I have a big project ahead of me, a couple weeks ago my dad learned the frame on his Discovery was severely rusted. He had taken it to get new tires and the guys at the shop didn't even want to put it on the lift due to how rusty the frame was! The whole frame has heavy scaling, and there is rust through in at least one spot. His Rover is a 2002 that he bought new in 2001, he didn't want to junk it so we decided to replace the frame. I found a 2002 frame at a junkyard 2 hours from home. So far I have taken the frame down to bare metal and have repainted it. The plan is to swap everything over to the new frame once he finds another vehicle. Not sure when I will start the project but I imagine i will have some questions for you guys. I know the old series rovers were known for frame rust issues, is it common on the Discoverys too?

 

Make sure to do a complete under body inspection including all the door jams, hinges and floor/firewall areas.
