Hi Harvir. Might post a problem I have tomorrow. Series 2a 27yrs, you deserve a medal. My mate used to have one, we were out in it one day when the gearstick snapped in two. He speedily evacuated the vehicle and started punching and kicking it lol, the last we seen of the gearstick was when we looked up and seen it flying through the air into a nearby cornfield. Ha, Ha, Ha....
Disco 2 was a great wee car, had one for a cpl years. My other pal had a 4.2 Disco, which he put his old 2.5tdi instead.
Anyway it's night time here, so to bed we go. Bye.

Hi Danny. I am trying to start the petrol engine with the original diesel starter barrel. And I have finally got it running.
The only problem is whenever the engine starts, the ignition and oil pressure warning lights go out. If I turn the key to half way then they come on. As soon as I press the starting switch they go on off and stay off. To start, turn the key halfway too turn the coil on. Then press the switch until it starts. Release switch, coil is still getting 12V or else engine wouldn't go. But the same warning lights go out.
Anybody any ideas.

Hey Willie. You should post your questions in the Series LR section of this forum.
I’m not fully understanding your problem, but it’s sounding like a bad ignition switch, or wiring to it connected incorrectly.
