Default New member, just bought a 99 Disco 2

Hello,

I have been lurking here for a few weeks, and last week was the lucky winner of a 1999 Disco 2 from the local tow auction! I took a gamble on a non-runner, and so far it's actually exceeding my expectations. I'm working on getting it running, and drying out the interior. The rear sunroof is really leaking so getting that sealed up is my big priority.

I will start a build thread and post some photos once I get a chance. But I have learned a ton from here already.

And for those already shaking their heads, I'm not new at this. Worst case if I can't get it running I'll get my money back out of it as a parts rig. But I think my gamble will pay off and I'll end up with a running Disco for under $1k.

I should probably post a photo, I don't have a ton yet as it's super cold right now, but here's one.

Nice find. That’s sort of the way I got my D2 (not from an auction though). I’ve been really happy with it.

Thanks! So far my hunches have panned out. It had a dead battery, loose alternator connection and no gas. Fixed those things, bypassed the ignition and it started right up.

I will like it a lot better when I can get the rear sunroof to seal properly. To compound what looks to be a relatively poor design, the PO tried to seal it shut with silicone and flex seal. Trying to dig that off the roof isn't fun. I think I might just pull the whole thing and clean it on the floor, then reinstall.
