Hi all, I'm a new member here from NH, I've moved here from England so really want to have a Disco 2.

I'll be looking at an 02 / 03, ive seen some avail' in premier auto dealers, now is it worth getting an independant mechanic to inspect it first?

I keep hearing horror stories of build quality so feel nervous even though these are immac' and had easy lives.

The other option is buying an aftermarket warranty, are they worth the paper they're written on?

Thanks in advance folks

A pre-buy inspection is always a good idea if you can. A Land Rover is not a Toyota or a Honda. It's a Land Rover. There will be issues but it's part of it. They are the most capable vehicle you will ever own if you know how to maneuver it correctly but be prepared for repairs. Search the forum, plenty of others like you all sharing ideas and stories.

Hi Stillruns, thanks for your reply.

I think after looking into the D2 I'm going to leave the older platforms well alone, a game of reliability roulette isn't my idea of joyous ownership.

I'm going for a LR3 or LR4 and flying the British flag high and proud...

Thanks for your reply
