Just introducing myself. I'm from Washington state. I bought a 1999 Discovery II 3 years ago and now I'm completely crazy. It's white and has blown head gaskets. That's what brought me to the forum. This forum has everything and I've been stalking it for weeks.

The RAVE shop manual is a must download. Follow it exactly, and ask questions on the forum before you do anything stupid (I rushed a bit and caused myself a lot of extra problems). Don't skip the machine shop work on the heads. Gasket kit from $90 to $125 if you shop, plus always use new bolts.

Thanks Buzz, I was doing good but stripped a head bolt, i posted about it already in the general help area, hopefully someone can help.

 

Just adopted a 98 Disco with no power steering, mechanic I took it to wants $3700 to replace the steering box and it’s hoses. That’s outrageous!!! Any and all advice welcome, I haven’t had the slightest idea where to get the part and have it fixed!!! Washington state resident
