Default New Owner - 2018 Discovery HSE Lux TD6

Hi,

I am proud and excited to share my new ride. Yeah, it has some miles, 55,555K now, made 1,500 for less than 3 weeks - cant get enough of it!!! Love the adaptive cruise control and the massaging seats, I truly feel the luxury and comfort. First time LL owner, have owned all BMWs, still keeping 2004M3 (race and autox), 2003 330CI daily beater, and 2017 X3 - all nothing but reliable, I hope LL can join and follow this saying

The part that scares me when I think about it - dealer warranty gets pricey, bank offered me warranty which seemed reasonably priced but also IFFY, as of now I got none! I maintain my cars, frequent oil changes, brakes, fluids, etc I even race and autox my M3 with over 150k miles, and it is solid like a rock as all my other BMWs. I hope i can say this for the Discovery in a few years ! (knock on wood, lol)

I already found this forum helpful, found some useful tips about various topic. Could not figure out "service required" and "next oil 0 miles" reset - the procedure: dash on, hold brake and gas while hood and door open, does not do it on my diesel even through it says "resetting" - have to still figure this out...

Anyway here are few pics:

I have to say, I was quietly smiling and enjoying every second with it, especially the long drives. And as I quickly piled up some miles over the last 3 weeks (1600+ miles), I began to feel confident with and built trust in my new car. And just like that, it went to the other end of the spectrum:

Unfortunately, 3 weeks in and 1600 miles into ownership and I got "transmission fault" - car revs up but barely is moving when on "D" - stuck, 200 miles away from home, on my son's 16 birthday...
I have never had to get towed for 25years, and now with my first LL 3 weeks into ownership I needed a tow, an expensive one too (1k)...
No warranty too! Anyway you look at it - sucks to be me

(notice when I took this pic, RMP are 2.5k, but car is barely moving - 5mph. I am no mechanic, but it seems to me it is mechanical transmission problem - I really hope I am wrong!!! )
