I have yet to read why anyone would want to own these things. Poor mileage, poor reliability, failure after failure, constantly absorbing weekend with repairs. So again WHY do they exist??
I see you’re the same fellow that’s looking at a Disco on the next post. Sorry for my terse reply above. You were asking a serious question. I read it as someone who was just trying to provoke some die hard Land Rover guy into an argument.
You’re looking at an older Disco. If you read through a few of the Disco 1 or Disco 2 threads you’ll get a better feel for why we love these things so much.

Yes a 1997 SD. One owner 134k miles. I love my 2 lil xjs I've had. But always thought these units were very unique. I personally enjoy repairing/replacing parts in the attempt to make something live again. Biggest concern has been, wlillnit be worth the effort for something that may just not want to live. LOL. On the surface the unit seems to be fine. Man rust outside the doors, which seems to be normal. Body mounts are good, no sunroof to leak. Rear door sags a bit, shocks are soft, steering linkage may need new tie rods, the stabilizers cover has rotted, power steering fluid didn't touch the dip stick, headliner sags. But, tires are good woth even wear and he claims to have kept up on oil changes but idknof the other areas of concern.
