Default New Range Rover broken already. HELP!

Just picked up our brand new '05 Range Rover HSE this evening and I think there's something serious wrong with it.

About 8 miles from my house I started to hear some loud banging from the rear end of the truck. I pulled over on the highway and took a look but could see nothing. I drove it home and under acceleration and at highway speeds it seems fine but as soon as you slow down and get off the gas, the banging starts up and is extremely loud. If I took a guess I would say that the rear differential is defective.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

Thanks for having me, wish it was under better circumstances.

if its brand new, id say **** it and let the dealership deal with it.

that aside, could you feel something hitting, rear driveshaft maybe?

Contact the dealer straight away and get them to fix it, as it is brand new and still under warranty. Sounds a lot like a loose prop shaft, rather than a damaged diff.

Yeah, they took it away on a flatbed. So far they think it's the driveshaft. Great quality.

Uh, how is it a new design? The 2005 is the same as the 2003 and 2004. The 2006 is the Ford drivetrain.

FWIW, it was a defective driveshaft. Got a new one on order.

Thanks to the folks that guessed it.

Bene,

Your not wrong, just misinformed. Ringmeister is correct. New Range Rover ( L322 ) came out in the States in 2003. 2006 will yield A Ford LR3 platform.
