Just picked up a 00 Disco II

Put new brakes/rotors all the way around, new tires, flushed the tranny fluid (what...no dipstick?), and will get the front end aligned this week. So far so good. This will be the wife's rig so I'm interested in four things: 1. getting the best possible MPG out of it (wrong rig to hope for that I know). 2. Fixing longevity issues up front. 3. Tried and proven secrets of how to get it away from the wife without her knowlege from time to time. 4. Healing time of most wounds recieved from wife when #3 goes south.

Got busted once when my wife saw pics of a 4x4 trip I went on in Panama (My CJ-7 was down, and I took her rig). She didn't share the appreciation I had of what her rig could do...(water over the headlights while river fording), so she's already got me on warning with this rig. Bah ha ha...Little does she know... I'll never grow up!
