My first experience piloting a vehicle happened in the Transkei of South Africa in 1963. At 4 years old I got up on the drivers 's seat of a land rover in our driveway, released the hand brake and rolled down the road until a neighbor chased me down and re-engaged the brake.

Scroll forward a bit more than half a century and I find myself in southern Ontario with a vehicle that makes me giggle like a 4 year old every time I get near it, a Defender 110 TD5. Add a pair of D2's - a beater and another that is too nice to part out, but needing too much to tackle and Life is Grand.
