Overheating

Default Overheating

I bought a 99 disco 2 back in December 2017 Because I needed a good car for snow and was going to be working at a ski resort and i was driving it daily to work when it started to overheat on my way home. It didn' get too hot just a bit warmer than usual. I got it home let it cool and looked at it and I couldn't see anything visibly wrong no leaks or cracks anywhere in the radiator the next day I made it to work and back home no problem but about 2 weeks later it overheated again and that' when I knew I had a problem. I replaced the thermostat, water pump and the coolant reservoir cap. I have confirmed it's not a head gasket. It seems it will overheat really fast when I floor the gas pedal. I' completey stumped on this truck and have no clue what to do. Would it be worth it to get a new radiator since it still has the stock one? It also bubbles out of the cap when it overheats which I take as the system holding pressure. Any feedback is appreciated.

How did you confirm it’s not a headgasket? Bubbles in the overflow could just as easily be escaping compression as the system holding pressure. A blocked radiator could be the problem, an IR temp gun would be a good way to tell by measuring the inlet and outlet temps. Did it ever use/lose coolant before it began over heating?

I had a very similar issue when I first purchased my D2. This is hardly going to be a technical response- After doing some research and coming to grips with the fact that the overflow tanks are prone to cracking/hairline fractures I wound up just replacing the tank, the hose from the tank to the throttle body, and the hose to the radiator. I also replaced my cap. I also found a much smaller leak after replacing all that, which wound up being the throttle body heater plate. Replaced it, and haven't had any issues since. All in all it cost me about $150 and 2 hours to install, flush, and refill the system.
