Default Please help me with my fuel guage problem!

I have just brought a 91' classic 3.9 vouge se, the problem is the fuel guage dosent work! and no matter how much fuel added the light stays illuminated and the guage doesnt move!
Is this the sender in the tank or a problem at the dash board end???
and do you have to remove the fuel tank to replace the sender and float???
i would be gratefull for any help!!
thanks for taking the time to read this!!

Have you checked the wiring? My 90 did something similar, and all it was, was the wire had broken off as it connected at the top of the tank, just fitted a new spade connector and then it all worked again.

It could also be that the float is stuck, as I am not a rangie owner, I am not sure how big of a job that is to change, you might be able to undo a panel in the boot to get to it without dropping the tank but not sure.

The sender is usually the problem, there is a sending unit on the side of the fuel tank that is removable without removing the tank completely. the part is about 200.00 US. Thanks, Rusty 98 Range, 90 Range
