Top speed of Disco?
Hi I am a new owner of 99 Disco I. I have question for all Land rover experts.
The car has 107000 mile. When I drive on free way it drives fine until I hit 80 mph. Then the car start to shake little bit. After I let the gas pedal go to reduce the speed and when I step on it again, the car does not pick up instead I can feel the rattle or chattering, steping on the gas makes it worst, until speed redeuces to 55mph then it drives fine. It feels like power does not transfer to drive shaft. Or drives shft turns blank.
It only does that at 80mph. 75 mph it is fine. even at 79 mph, I can let the gas pedal and step on it again with no problem.
Previous owner told me that they took the problem to the dealer for warranty a few times. But they could not find the cause of the problem. So they drove with the condition for 80000miles, since they got the car. They said just don't go over 80 mph.
What do you think is the problem?
Please help!

RE: Top speed of Disco?
I have had mine up to 95 or so it may go faster but
the way mine is setup I did not want to go faster.
I think that the Disco II can go to agout 110-115.
The rear drive shaft has a rubber U-joint at the diff
if this is not in good shape it will vibrate. If you can ask
the last owners if they had it changed.
The other thing is the tires could be out round or out of
balance.
